Elk Island Child & Youth Ranch is located 40 minutes east of Edmonton, 20 minutes east of Fort Saskatchewan in Lamont, Alberta. Please consider the travel distance before applying.
Youth Worker staff are responsible for:
- Supervision of youth within both residential and community settings
- Assist youth with schooling, recreation and structured programming as outlined by the treatment team
- Transportation of youth using ranch provided vehicles to appointments, recreational outings and family visits
- Medication Administration to all youth including documentation
- Professional report writing and documentation of behavior and daily activities
- General Household cleaning, yard maintenance, and meal preparation
- Engaging youth in a healthy lifestyle through physical activities, as well as indoor activities such as board games, puzzles, etc.
- Providing direction and guidance through role modelling, verbal redirection, physical redirection and use of consequences as needed
- Follow through of individual treatment plans designed in collaboration with the treatment team with the use of behavior modification, solution focused counselling, applied behavior analysis, youth centered practice and other such models that support change and growth within the youth

Requirements:
- Valid Class 5 license
- Clear Drivers Abstract
- Clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sections Check
- Clear Child Intervention Check
- 2 years previous experience working within the Human Services field
- A degree or diploma from a post secondary institue in a Human Services related field or certified as a Child and Youth Care Worker
- 3 References from previous employers
- Commitement to lifelong learning by completing a minimum of 15 hours annually of additional training related to Child and Youth Care work beyond the madatory training required.
You will be working with youth who have FASD, ADHD, Conduct Disorder, Mental Health Concerns and Developmental Delays in correlation and collabaration with an on-site Clinician, Children Service Workers, Medical Professionals and the Treatment Team.

Starting wage is based on experience and position. Benefits available after 6 months to full time staff (Medical and Dental).
